The Morristown Police Department is dispatched via the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.

Shelby County Dispatch is staffed 24 hours a day 365 days a year by one or two dispatchers. The Shelby County Sheriff Department Dispatch center is responsible for dispatching units for the Sheriff Department, Morristown Police Department, Indiana Conservation Officers, and Indiana State Police. Dispatch is also responsible for dispatching nine fire departments with in the county including Morristown Fire Department.
 
The dispatch center also handles all 911 calls in the county. 
 
Dispatching is a full-time job and requires multi-tasking, customer service skills, and a cool and collected head during emergencies. When contacting the Sheriff Department keep in mind that they are not only taking your call but also every call for assistance in the county and keeping our fellow police officers and fire fighters safe. The dispatcher is responsible for listening to over six different radio frequencies, three 911 lines, 9 administration lines, entering warrants in the national computer system and handling request from officers and fire departments during multi-agency incidents.
